Since the inception of AOI the emphasis is on education and sharing of expertise. In line with such commitment our fraternity has conducted CDE programs with renowned national and international speakers in implant science. The first CDE program held on 21st July 2004 coincided with the inauguration of AOI.
Dr. Ashish Kakar shared his experience on management of partial anodontia patients with dental implants, which was followed by a presentation by Dr. Lanka Mahesh, who enlightened us with the implant possibilities for patients with poor complete denture foundations and finally Dr. Ashish Jain discussed his secretes for the management of surgical as well as aesthetic difficulties arising during implant treatment.
The second CDE program comprised of a full day session with Dr.Edaurado on 9th September 2004 . Dr. Edaurado with his vast experience captured everyone's attention and presented his cases managed with the use of PGRF, slow speed implant site preparation, new surgical tools for dental implants. This was followed by a session of latest digital CT scan aids available today.
The program was a great success with the participation of dental dealers and over 200 audiences. The informal atmosphere leads to a fantastic brain storming session of question and answers, with Dr.Edaurado promising to return soon.
Besides the CDE the implant practitioners got together at an informal platform and discuss each others cases and problems. With so many implant systems in the market today, having complete knowledge of all the systems is highly unlikely. So we like to rely on our fellow implant dentists to share their experiences of different implant systems, and develop a shared pool of knowledge and ultimately benefiting all practitioners to provide a predictable and affordable implant treatment to their patients.
The AOI executive has formed a Study Group Delhi Implant Study Circle (DISC) where any AOI member can participate and widen this pool of information. Such programs are held monthly at a mutually convenient location, with consultation of the attending participants. All members are urged to share their experiences at this platform, where all of us are learners.
AOI has provided a platform where major implant companies have been able to introduce their products to common audience and the participants have also benefited by comparing various implant systems and attending hands on sessions of all the systems. The patronage of our supporters and well wishers has been immensely encouraging, without whose favorable response our goals would have remained dreams.
Organizing such events is priority for AOI as scientific knowledge is fast changing and so is the science of implantology. We do hope that this will fulfill the quest of knowledge of practitioners utilizing the evidence based concepts in use.
